You tried to shut us up but we’re still singing this song
We are the outcast, made this way from the start
Twisted and deranged the ones you fear in the dark
Vaya has always had the heart of a rebel. Not having parents that were always around and usually being stuck with a nanny who could careless about her left her idle enough to get into trouble, with the exception of her time spend at her aunt and uncles place. She likes to have fun and do stupid things but she does have a short temper and likes to take care of issues herself. She is quick with words and fists. Despite her slender build and sweet looks, she can manage her own in a fight. Though her temper could use some work she is often carefree. She doesn't care what other people think or say to her and before she never use to care about anything, but after the incident she won't stand for anyone pushing her or those that she loves around.
We are the nightmare, the voice in your head
Creeping up behind, we’re breathing down your neck
So fuck your future, and fuck your rumors
We’re everybody that you never thought we’d be
Vaya grew up the country, just a few towns over from her cousin Rosco, her favorite and only cousin that she spent a lot of her early years with and most weekends. Her aunt and uncle basically raised her and had her work on their farm when able. She loved the farm though didn't dress 'country' like everyone else. She dresses and acts how she wants and doesn't conform to social norms.
"This just in: The final shots have been fired at Everett High School. There are a reported 26 causalities and 40 injured including teachers and the shooters themselves are pronounced dead by suicide."
Life used to be simple for Vaya. She coasted her way through junior high and most of high school with her two friends. Though she wasn't extremely close with Eden and Penelope, she thought that they were happy. They were always laughing and goofing off together. They were the rule abiding students though, they often snuck off to smoke pot , drink, and listen to music whether it be on campus or not. They thought no one else noticed or cared to because of their social standing in school. They were the outcasts, staying away from the main scene by their own choice, often glaring and giving snide remarks to others who got near them but instead of keeping people away it ended up drawing some eyes. Often they were made fun of or their antics were reported to the principal, getting them in a lot of trouble by Vaya didn't care. Her parents were rarely around to punish her due to their jobs taking up most of their time and she figured if she wasn't hurting anyone then it wouldn't be a big deal.
Her friends didn't think the same. Every little jab and reprimand built up inside them and with Vaya not understanding, they felt it was up to the two of them to fix their school and show their classmates how wrong they really were.
Eden and Penelope borrowed their fathers guns and walked into their school, acting like nothing was wrong. It was just another day, they went to class, ate lunch, smoked some weed behind the school, and hung out with Vaya. She had no idea that when her friends told her they would catch up with her when a spirit assembly was called, that her whole life would change.
The shots rang out as the two girls entered the gym, aiming first at the principal and then opening in on the crowd. There was mass panic. Students spilled from the bleachers, some ducking for cover inside locker rooms, some trying to make it through doors to get outside to the football field only to be stopped by everyone trying to fit through a single opening and even some tried to rush the girls and take them down. Eden and Penelope took down anyone who got near while picking off those who they blamed for their personal sorrows. All the while, amidst the screams Vaya sat there, her eyes wide. This had to be a dream. She thought. This couldn't be possible.People pushed past her until she finally stood, moving down the bleachers and walking directly to her friends who shot around her until she was staring them in the eyes.
Eden smiled and asked Vaya if she would like to help them 'weed out the devils' from the screaming students but Vaya just shook her head, staring at the strangers before her. She opened her mouth, about to reason with them, to try to get them to stop, when there was a shot and pain erupted in her shoulder, causing her to fall onto her side, staring up at Eden and Penelope who just glared at her.
There was more shouting as doors flung open and police swarmed into the gym, ready to apprehend the girls when two finally shots echoed out and the bodies of her friends fell on top of the stunned Vaya.
After the ordeal Vaya was questioned. Did she know what was going to happen? Of course not, she would have told someone! After more hassel and trying to understand Vaya was released with a scar in her shoulder and unable to return to her school. She decided to be home schooled while also going through therapy. There isn't a day where she doesn't think of the tragedy. Maybe she could have stopped it?
She often gets angry and confused and after Rosco left, she felt at a loss, but now it's time for her to return to an actual school. She's heard about someone causing her cousin problems and is ready to try and take them down. Personally. She isn't about to stand by idle anymore.
