I'm the strong one, I'm not nervous
I'm as tough as the crust of the earth is
I move mountains, I move churches
And I glow 'cause I know what my worth is

I don't ask how hard the work is
Got a rough indestructible surface
Diamonds and platinum, I find 'em, I flatten 'em
I take what I'm handed, I break what's demanding
But
Under the surface
Serious- Unless he's with his friends, Lewis is very serious. Scholarships won't just come because of his strength and skills, they also need the smarts. He often stays up late to finish his school work and will blow off unimportant social engagements if he's lacking in his courses. Jokes also tend to fly over his head-something that his sister Sasha takes advantage of in order to catch him off guard.
Dedicated- Once taking on a duty he doesn't slack or let it slide out of his hands. He wants to get things done right and if he says he is going to do something then he is going to stick to it. He is the reliable team player throughout all of his social groups.
Protective- When it comes to his sisters Lewis is like the guard dog. He may not interact with them one on one in school, but he always has an eye out for them. He cares deeply for his sisters and acts as if he is their parent. He was there for them throughout their childhoods and won't stop.
Athletic- Lewis is good at almost every sport he tries and is pushed onto every team, his luck on the field has lead to his teammates to rely on him heavily and if anything goes right-or wrong they blame it on him. He does a sport every season and is never on break.
Stressed- With protecting his sisters and carrying the team Lewis is like a bomb waiting to explode. There is rarely a moment where he feels relaxed, he's always tense. He is the one who is supposed to carry on the family name and continue to make everyone proud.
I feel berserk as a tightrope walker in a three-ring circus

I'm pretty sure I'm worthless if I can't be of service
A flaw or a crack
The straw in the stack
When Nora and Holden met each other it was the world was destined to end. To say they were irresponsible would be an understatement. They were young, rich, and very bored. It didn't take long for them to find trouble and fall into the world of drugs and thrills, but instead of helping their families swept them under the rug, funding their habits while wishing the shame they brought would go away, they didn't even step in to help when they had their children. First was Lewis, a spunky boy who didn't seem to care that his parents chose meth over him, they gave him toys and whatever he wanted and he found their parties with loud music and lots of people exciting. He got to talk to people and see them act funny, though it did get boring when they would fall asleep and he was the last one awake, left to whatever entertainment items he could find-most not that safe but he managed. The thing that made it better though was when his little sisters were born. He remembered his parents yelling about two babies in Mommy's belly, but at the time he thought they were excited but now that he looks back at it he realized that they were feeling the opposite of excited.
After they were born things began to change. Their parents were angry, always fighting. While they fought he would go and sit with his sisters while they were laid on the pile of pillows that served as their beds, trying to make them stop crying, eventually he got really good at it and when his mom noticed, she enlisted him to be the big helper-essentially he was the third parent and as he got older he made sure to always be focused on them to make sure they were okay. At the age of five things began to change, he started school and the teachers began to notice bruises and the disheveled look of his parents when they came to pick him up-if they remembered. Eventually Child Protective Services were called and the kids were removed from their parents care. Foster Care was Hell. Lewis can still remember being yelled at by foster parents and bullied by foster siblings. The only thing that made it worth it was that he was able to stay with his sisters. Even in homes more stable than the one he grew up in, he stuck to his sisters like glue and protected them. The twins were barely two at the time and he didn't want anyone near them, he had to protect them. Even when it came to them visiting their parents in safe environments he still stayed close, having time away from his parents made him realize that something was off and seeing them in a confined space made it worse. Now they looked scary and he remembered them constantly arguing or acting like they couldn't focus and eventually they stopped showing up. He remembered their foster mother at the time on the phone, telling someone that she did not want these three kids. They were too much work. He remembered how angry that made him felt.
That breaks the camel's back
What breaks the camel's back it's
Pressure like a drip that'll never stop
Pressure that'll tip, tip, tip 'till you just go pop, whoa
Give it to your sister brother, your sister's brother's older
Give her him all the heavy things we can't shoulder
After their parents rights were terminated it wasn't too long that both of them were found deceased in their apartment from dug overdoses and even with them gone, their families wanted nothing to do with Lewis and his sisters, they were off living their perfect lives, leaving the trio in the limbo of foster care, until their Dads brother-William and his wife bit the bullet. They had the money and the huge house but did they have the gene that made them good parents? Lewis would say no. He remembered moving into that house, everything had to be perfect-like a magazine. The kids were forced to stay in their rooms, they could only play there and if any toys or mess were found outside of those rooms they were punished. William and Estella wanted perfection and to accomplish this they categorized each child. As Lewis got older they realized he had a talent for sports so everything about him was related to being athletic. He had to be good at every sport and they continue to have these high expectations, they do not accept failure, which vexes them to now end when it comes to Sasha.
As they've grown up Lewis has tried to protect Sasha but with all his added expectations he hasn't done his best to keep her from the evil in the world, a fact that adds more stress to his shoulders. The only thing that has helped this was his being able to convince William and Estella to let them go to Tidewater, a school that reached their expectations and gives the siblings the freedoms they want, though old habits and expectations are hard to shake. Lewis still feels the building pressure of being the strong one, the athlete, anything less is unacceptable. He is the one who is meant to continue the family name with honor-to erase the black smudge that his father had left behind. He is the one who has to protect his sisters and be their support. As long as they are okay and he fulfils what's required of him then he thinks he will be okay.
