You'd probably think I was psychotic if you knew
What I still got in my closet sad but true
I slip it on over my shoulders
Something I'll never get over
It makes me feel a little bit closer to you
I can't keep your love

I can't keep your kiss
Gave you everything and all I got was this
I'm still rocking your hoodie
And chewing on the strings
It makes me think about you
So I wear it when I sleep
I kept the broken zipper
And cigarette burns
Helpful- Since she was a child she was often labeled as the teachers pet because she was always ready to help. Jo would raise her hand to volunteer for a task before even knowing what it was. She likes to be able to be reliable and help ease other people's burdens though part of her expects that if she helps someone they'll help her back in the future. This helpful nature and love of books is what lead her to her profession as a librarian. A position where she could help people not only find books but learn how to use computers or get involved in community work shops and events.
Hopeless Romantic- Like her big sister Jo has always wanted to find love but hasn't been very lucky in keeping it when finding herself in a relationship. Sometimes labeled as clingy she finds herself as more...dedicated. She wants to be part of her significant others life and be their support while dreaming about their future in those dull moments at work.
Obsessive- She loves with her whole heart and some would say too much of her heart. Whenever she has a boyfriend she is all about them, wanting to make them happy and fulfil their needs over her own. She's kind of like a personal cheerleader that always knows just a bit too much that is borderline creepy even though she doesn't mean it that way. When she has love she doesn't want to lose it and will do everything she can to keep it, even if it means some men label her as an overly attached girlfriend.
Easily Manipulated- Her dedication and loyalty to others is one of her biggest faults. She rarely questions people's motives and often takes what they say for the complete truth, which is what kind of brought her to Tidewater in the first place. Her opinion can be easily swayed, especially when she's trying to please the people involved.
Still rocking your hoodie
Baby, even though it hurts
I used to put my hand in your pockets holding on
The smell of your cologne is still on it but you're still gone
I slip it on over my shoulders
Someone I'll never get over
It makes me feel a little bit closer to you
Growing up Josephine absolutely adored her big sister Marceline and followed her everywhere as soon as she could walk. This adoration followed her as the two grew up and Jo considered Marcy her best friend, telling her everything and eventually a lot of those things centered on boy trouble. While Marcy found herself falling for the wrong type Jo found herself falling for almost every type, developing new crushes almost daily. The only time she wasn't gushing about a new boy was when she was in a relationship but those never seemed to last too long and she couldn't understand why. She was a people pleaser and couldn't see how she could be too much for any boy, especially while still in high school. Every time her heart was broken she went to her sister and vice versa or she went to her other friends when Marcy wasn't available. Jo was very close to her friends, heck the only boys she didn't have crushes on were the ones that her friends liked or were dating. She had that kind of loyalty going for her but she also had a habit of dropping out of her friend group as soon as she found a new boyfriend but they always welcomed her back when she had her tail between her legs and a broken heart.
This pattern stretched on from high school to college and to even now. Even with all her education and experience she still didn't understand why she couldn't keep a man even though she was being the perfect girlfriend, at least in her eyes.
I can't keep your love
I can't keep your kiss
Gave you everything and all I got was this
I'm still rocking your hoodie
And chewing on the strings
It makes me think about you
After graduating and settling into her home town and getting a job in the towns library Jo found herself single yet again. It was getting hard to find a boyfriend in person so she turned to the realm of internet dating, quickly getting sucked into the attractive pictures and charm of it all. She went on a few dates here and there but nothing really panned out until she met a man named Nico. He was kind, funny, and the pictures he sent her weren't bad to look at. It didn't take long for all of Jo's focus to be on him and their conversation. They were always texting and even talked on the phone well into the night, Jo had wanted to video chat with him but his phone camera was broken and he didn't have a computer, so that was understandable. Jo didn't mind since their bond was so strong without having to see each other. She did dream of one day being with him though so she started to save up money to move to where he was. It made sense, her apartment lease was almost over and she didn't really want to stay in her home town and after Nico had told her about the Californian town he was living in that was very close to Ocean City where her sister now lived Jo thought it would be the perfect place to be.
When the moment was right Jo moved down to Ocean City and once she was settled in went to the town where Nico lived. Over their time talking he had told her about how he worked at one of the souvenir shops so it wasn't far fetched for her to wander in one day. She browsed the shelves until a worker asked her if she needed any help. She saw his badge said the name Nico and her heart soared...then plummeted the moment she saw the workers face and felt like a damn fool. The man she was staring at was nothing like the picture she had seen, he wasn't bad looking, but he had been lying to her the entire time. This was not the person she had been talking to and she couldn't manage to get any words out of her mouth as she stared at him, seeing the realization hit him when he recognized her. Without a word she turned and ran out of the shop and got in her car, going back to her new apartment while wiping tears from her eyes. She had been so stupid, so so stupid, the only good thing that came out of this was that she was back with her sister. After this ordeal she changed her phone number and shunned the realm of online dating, focusing on her work and getting to know this new town while trying to banish the memories of Nico from her mind.
So I wear it when I sleep
I kept the broken zipper
And cigarette burns
