Just might run a pool table
Roll your eyes if I call you an angel

Ain't you, one of them girls?
Ask you to dance, you say, "No"
Just to see how far I'll go
Your song comes on and your eyes closed
That's when I know, yeah
You got your heart on lockdown
Protective- Colbi cherishes everyone in her life and protects them with a fierceness of a dragon. She isn't afraid to stand up to those bigger or stronger than her in order to keep her people safe emotionally and physically. She often puts up walls around herself to stay safe as well. In her childhood she lost too much and often felt lost that she doesn't want anyone else she adores to ever feel that way.
Playful- Having a career and life revolving around children Colbi can be fairly playful. She isn't above indulging in games of hop scotch or having conversations about imaginary friends. She is quick with a joke and to find funny things in serious situations. Her quick mouth and lack of thinking things through used to get her into trouble so she tries to contain herself, though it can be hard.
Supportive- She is a great cheerleader for the people she loves. She throws her whole heart into supporting others and making them feel heard though isn't afraid to point out potential dangers if she thinks they're making a bad choice but ultimately she knows that she can't force people to do what she thinks is right.
Inquisitive- Her curious nature has always driven her to experience and learn about new things in the world. It's part of the reason she became a teacher in the first place, that and she loves children, something she realized after she started helping her brother raise his daughters. She loves those who ask questions and tries to find the answers with them or for them.
Got a wall I gotta knock down
Kinda wanna do a shot now, come on now
And you're one of them girls that
Ain't tryna meet nobody
You're just here for the party
If I'm wrong then stop me, yeah
You're one of them girls that
Colbi has faint memories of her biological parents. She had been taken away from them when she was ten and though she can't remember their faces too well she can remember the home they lived in. It was filled bottom to top with garbage and misplaced needles and bottles of alcohol. It smelled rancid of urine and god knows what. They didn't have running water so she often had to try to wash herself with baby wipes that her mom stole from stores but often she was ridiculed by her peers for being dirty and disgusting. With the layer of grime on her skin, the smell of her clothes, and the bruises that were hard to hide her teachers eventually called the authorities. Even though her life was terrible Colbi was angry at the people who had made her be taken away from her mom and dad, she didn't like her choices being taken away or being shoved into a foster home filled with strangers.
For the two years following her removal from her parents Colbi found herself moved at five different foster homes, being pushed out to make room for younger kids or because they claimed she was hard to deal with. Colbi couldn't deny that she wasn't nice to her foster homes but she didn't think she had done anything that warranted being kicked out. Between foster homes she was shoved into group homes that were like orphanages until spaces opened up for her, leaving her to cart her belongings around in trash bags. When you don't have a real place to call home you can't afford to keep much. During this time she saw her parents sporadically during supervised visits but it never went right. Though she tried to show them she wanted to be back with them nothing ever seemed to work, seemed to make them want to be sober or do what they had to in order to get her back and eventually she came to realize that maybe they didn't want her back. It was her first heart break.
Ain't handin' out your number
You like to make us want you
You like to make us wonder
If you're one of them girls
'Cause I'm one of them boys
Who'll trade his whole world, hmm, yeah
When her parents rights were terminated Colbi was almost thirteen. By then it seems that she would been expecting this but it still crushed her when it became permanent. She didn't have any family to be passed on to so she was pushed into another foster home but when she came into the home of the Ruth's she felt like things were different. Her new parents were genuinely kind and she had a little brother who didn't hesitate to get to know her. Noah showed her that it was okay to be upset and became her first real friend. As they grew up together Colbi became protective of her much quieter and nerdy brother, whenever someone tried to bully him she get in their way and made them regret it and though their bond was strong Colbi still found herself engaging in risky behavior as she got older.
Once in high school she fell into a crowd of trouble makers, becoming bestfriends with a girl named Stell who showed her the taste of alcohol and cigarettes along with showing her the relief that certain drugs showed them. Colbi had fun but as she and Stell got closer she started to notice the way her brother stared at her friend and it made her uneasy. She confronted Noah, who admitted that he was in love with Stell and she warned him that her friend would only cause trouble. She knew that Stell existed to party and have fun with various people, she knew that she would never be the one to be serious and Colbi didn't want to see Noah hurt though ultimately he didn't listen. She watched as her friend and brother got entangled in a relationship, forced to stand aside while they claimed they were happy and eventually they all grew apart with Noah following Stell to California, leaving Colbi behind. The feeling of being alone was still familiar and Colbi was left unsure of what to do. She went on to college but wasn't sure what else she should do so she went about her days like a zombie until Noah called her with the news.
Colbi gave up her life in Oregon, which wasn't much, and rushed to California to help her brother raise his daughter Magnolia. She and Noah lived together and she felt like she found a purpose as she supported Noah. The two worked well together but once again, as everything had settled, Stell came back though this time was much more convincing of her sobriety, even wooing Colbi over. Colbi continued to help them while going to school herself, deciding that she was going to be a teacher like her brother, but for elementary school students, and she hoped everything would go well, even when Stell fell pregnant again. She hoped this second chance would be Stell's moment to show them that she was dedicated but like before she left after Violette was born and this time she and Noah divorced. Colbi found herself comforting her brother again and helping him raise his girls and when they heard of Stell's death she continued to help him and be his support and now, even with the girls grown bigger and Noah more sure in his finances and Colbi having moved out, she continues to help raise her nieces and be there for her brother. She's determined to let these little girls know that even though they don't have their mother they have people who love them more than the world itself.
