Holiday is the oldest daughter of Darius St. James and Sabrina Hoffman, though the news stays only on her birth certificate. Holiday can't remember her mothers face much, she was never close to her. Her mother had Kaleb right after she was born and all attention was on him. Only her father seemed to realize this and it caused tension between him and Sabrina, but by the time it was brought to light Sabrina and Holiday didn't have that mother daughter connection. Holiday always reached for Dad. Her first word was Daddy and she walked to him, when she cried only Dad could calm her down. It vexed her Mom but she didn't have time to try and re-connect, instead she was pregnant with her next daughter Finley.
Though she was young, Holiday watched her siblings get showered with love from their mother until finally her parents separated. She isn't sure why exactly all she knows is that her mom never cared for and she went with her Dad to another state where they started fresh. Darius continued his successful career while raising his little girl until he met Daphne Elliot. The woman was strong and vivacious, they hit it off and within a year got married. Holiday was excited for a step-mother, Daphne was someone she could play with and confide in. They were great together, but once Daphne became pregnant with Holiday's newest sibling things changed. Daphne turned her back to Holiday, hardly giving her the time of day while she dragged her Dad into planning the new nursery, making sure everything was perfect for the new bundle of joy. As the years went on three more siblings were added to the brood and Holiday was shuffled off into the corner. Her Dad was so focused on his new family that Holiday found it easier to keep to herself. Her family acted on without her and she was left to wonder why no one could seem to love her.
That's when she met Oliver, a cute boy who was part of the popular crowd in middle school. When he started paying attention to her it was like the heavens had opened up. He listened, he was attentive, he was everything she had dreams off. If they weren't together they were on the phone. He would sneak into her room at night and one of those nights she lost her virginity to him. She was convinced that they were in love and would do anything for him.
Return to days when you knew
You still you felt alive
Once in high school things seemed to change. Oliver didn't want her going anywhere without him, he would get angry when she spoke with other boys, and often froze her out when she made him mad. She blamed it on the stress of a new school and stuck with him, eventually her friends faded away and the only person she talked to was Oliver. That made him happy, but not for long. Soon everything began to bother him, if she breathed the wrong way it would set him off. If she had family dinners she had to attend her would scream at her for abandoning him, when that got to be too much, Holiday finally snapped.
At his house she turned and told him that he needed to calm down. Without a word he struck her with his open palm across her cheek. The force knocked her to the ground and for a moment she laid there as he screamed at her for blaming everything on him. it wasn't his fault that she made him mad and after months of abuse she believed him. She had no one to turn to. Her friends had gone their own ways and she couldn't bother her family with her drama. They had enough to focus on with the little ones running around. She rarely spoke to her Dad and he didn't seem to notice. She covered her bruises and cuts with make up, often wearing long sleeves during the hotter months and her hair was always down. Oliver made her believe that she was worthless and bit by bit she believed him.
It wasn't until her little sister had walked in on her changing and screamed from fear, seeing her big sisters body covered in bruises, some deep purple and others fading to yellow. Her screams of terror made her family flock to her door. Her step mother shooed the kids away while Holiday's Dad shut the door behind him. There were tears in his eyes as he begged Holiday to tell him what happened, but she wouldn't open her mouth. He called in sick to work and kept Holiday out of school, taking her to see the best therapist that money could offer. He set Holiday up with private tutors to keep her caught up with classes and took away all forms of communication. Holiday rarely left the house, the therapist having to come to them. She was scared that around every corner would be Oliver, who hadn't shown his face yet. After a few weeks Holiday began to open up about the years of abuse and was put on medication and through multiple other therapies to help her cope and eventually they started to help. She began to regain her confidence little by little but her anxiety was still raging inside her. She was antsy and could hardly sleep, her doctor suggested for her to take on a sport. It took a bit to find the right one but eventually Holiday settled on kick boxing, thinking that if she could defend herself it would be worth it. Her private in home sessions were going great and eventually she started to feel less scared. She felt like she was getting back to herself. She encouraged her family to go out for the night with out her, to have a nice dinner while she got to indulge in some peace and quiet when it stopped scaring her.

That night she was curled up on the couch watching TV wondering what her family was doing with the little ones when there was a loud crash from the sound of a window shattering. Panicked seized her in place, she stared over the couch as Oliver walked through the darkness, something silvery flashing in his hand. He had an eerie smile on his face as he got closer to her.
"You really thought you could just dump me like that?" Something in his voice made every hair stand on end. "I'm going to make you regret it." He stood in front of her. Holiday just stared as he leered over her. Without much thought she kicked out his legs, making him fall and the knife flew threw the air. The two engaged in a physical fight, Holiday knowing that if she didn't win her life would be over. She refused to let her family walk in on that. She fought with every ounce of strength, finally knocking Oliver's head into a cabinet. He slumped to the ground and she ran to the next house for help, hiding there until the police arrived and took Oliver away. He was still alive and still very angry.
Holiday was shaking from fear and a bit of excitement. She had fought back and had won. In that moment she could believe all the past months had been worth the therapy and training and she could believe that she was someone who couldn't be taken advantage of, though her father wasn't as convinced. In the weeks following he prepared Holiday for a transfer to Tidewater High School, where he believed she would get a good education and be safe.
And you feel good now but you can't wake up
They found a way to reassure you
[Confident]- After her training and new coping mechanisms Holiday has a new confidence where she believes she can stand on her own without anyone to support her. Though sometimes she does get lonely. She keeps a smile on her face and keeps her fears at bay while she keeps her head up.
[ Strong]- Not only is she mentally strong after rebuilding herself, she is physically strong and isn't afraid to get into a fight. She continues her boxing practice after classes to keep herself in shape. She believes that if she can fight then no one else take advantage of her like Oliver did.
[Oblivious]- You could say that her confidence has made her oblivious to how easily she can be manipulated. If someone is kind to her and doesn't hurt her, then it is impossible for them to be a bad person.
[Protective]- Once you're one of her friends she won't turn her back on you. If you're having problems with someone she isn't afraid to hop in and give her two cents while trying to make sure that they stay okay.
[Trusting]- Being oblivious leans into this, if you're kind and treat her well to her face then she will believe that's what they're always going to be like.
(That everything would be okay)
